Here’s how to get your big idea heard

What’s the difference between a message that inspires vs. a message that moves people to ACTION?

Influence.

Have a dream in mind? An organization you want to start, a solution to a major problem in your area, a product that will enhance the quality of people’s lives…

Moving great ideas from dreams to reality is often far less about the idea itself, and more about your ability to INFLUENCE.

You’ll need supporters, teammates, and mentors for your big ideas.

And the first step of influence really comes down to knowing your audience.

We must first HONOR and UNDERSTAND the world of those we are trying to influence.

And that means asking ourselves some questions:

  1. What does the person I’m trying to influence really want and need?

What do they desire most?

What do they fear most?

What they want and need might be two very different things. How can you give them what they want, while simultaneously ensuring they get what they need?

Think of yourself as the guide in their journey. How does your message GUIDE them to what they need? How does it allow them to be the hero of their own journey?

Next…

  1. What is preventing them from getting what they want?

Is it a limiting belief?

An old story?

A disempowering state?

A person’s state can impact their ability to change, but so can their Model of the World, which is a term for how a person views their world.

What are their beliefs? What is sacred to them? What feels like injustice? What moves them?

Knowing a person deeply honors them AND leads to better, more genuine communication.
